National & World Champion Miniature Horses and Ponies
National and World Champion Miniature Horses and Ponies
Icon Studios Photo Shoot

Karen Kennedy of Icon Studios Equine Photography was looking for some Miniature horses and Shetland Ponies to photograph for a book. An acquaintance familiar with Enchanted Hollow contacted us, thinking we might have what Karen was looking to shoot. So, we got in contact with Karen and mentioned that we had a few minis and a few Shetlands.

Karen came to our place in Orono and met the minis and Shetlands and, apparently, liked what she saw. A few days later, she returned to take photographs of several horses.

She chose Classique's Phantom Gold (photo at top of page) and Mini Bucks Little Sabrina (photo, below right) to represent the Miniature horses and D&S Double Dutch Chocolate and Emerald Glenn Noah to represent the Shetlands. (Phantom, Sabrina and Dutch are Enchanted Hollow horses, while Noah is on loan to us by Jackie Tyler of Emerald Glenn. And we are thrilled to be able to exhibit him this show season. We are very grateful to Jackie for entrusting Noah to us for the show season.)

All four horses are very good representatives of their breed. All are multiple national champions in their respective divisions, and Dutch has won national titles at both AMHR Nationals and Shetland Congress. (Phantom, Sabrina and Dutch are pictured at left.)

Phantom, as you might have seen noted elsewhere on this website, is the only AMHR Miniature horse with Hall of Fame awards in nine classes. He also won six national titles at the 2008 AMHR Nationals. Phantom was a show off throughout the photo shoot, prancing and looking into the camera. He's special and he knows it, and he wants everyone to know it.

Sabrina has won AMHR national titles in Halter and Pleasure Driving and has been a Reserve National champion in Hunter.

Dutch has won AMHR national titles in Halter, Country Pleasure Driving and Roadster, and has won at Shetland Congress in Country Pleasure Driving, Hunter and Jumper.

Noah is a two-time Liberty winner at Shetland Congress and has excelled in Halter and Roadster classes.

When she came to photograph the horses, Karen had Phantom exhibit the fancy, extended trot that helped him win the national championship in Liberty Under at the 2008 AMHR Nationals. He went into his trot and rarely came out of it.

Noah was the same way, showing off the trot that lifted him to a national title in Liberty in the Modern division at the 2008 Shetland Congress.

Sabrina still hadn't been clipped for her first show, and Karen liked the way her hair flowed around her head and mane. A day later, Sabrina got that first clip.

Dutch had a big trot going, and also posed as if in a Halter class.

Karen also took photographs of Sawyer jumping Phantom (photo, below right) and standing with him (photo at left). And she photographed our two colts born in May, as well as group shots of our other minis free lunging in our pasture (photo above).

We are very pleased and excited that Karen Kennedy of Icon Studios Equine Photography chose Phantom, Sabrina and Dutch, as well as Noah, to represent their breeds. And we are thankful for Karen allowing us to include several of the photographs here on our website. All the photos on this page are courtesy of Karen Kennedy and Icon Studios Equine Photography. As you can see, she takes wonderful photographs and we encourage you to consider her if you are looking for someone to photograph your horses. Karen's e-mail address is iconstudios@eschelon.com
