Shane was born December 22, 2005 with a cleft lip and palate.

He also was born with a healthy appetite, as evidenced by this photo (at right) of him enjoying spaghetti.

After undergoing four surgeries for his cleft lip and palate in his first 18 months, Shane is doing great.

He loves helping Mary and the other kids in the barn.

And he loves going to shows.

He attended his first AMHR Nationals in September 2007.

It was the first of many.

Back in August 1988, Mary and Bob met.

In Goteborg, Sweden.

Mary was a cheerleader for the Minnesota Vikings (photo, right).

Bob was covering the Vikings for a Minnesota newspaper.

The Vikings played an exhibition game in Sweden, bringing Mary and Bob together.

It turned out they lived in the same apartment complex, but their paths never crossed. Until they got to Sweden.

It was like at first sight.

Then they fell in love.

Then they married.

Then they started having little ones -- kids first, then miniature horses.

Spencer and Shane get along great.

They like doing things together.

Such as:

Play with their miniature cars and trucks.

Play with their miniature chickens.

Play with their miniature horses.

Play the piano (as shown in photo at left).

Some day, Sawyer may be a jockey and ride in the Kentucky Derby.

Of course, he'd have to stop growing because, at 10 years old, he's about the size of a jockey.

Chances are, Sawyer's isn't a future jockey. But he is a kid who likes to have fun with his minis.

Here he is in the photo at right straddling one of his minis before driving in a Roadster class.

Sawyer, by the way, won the Roadster Stakes Class at the 2007 AMHR Area VI National Show with Sabrina, beating several adults, including both his parents.

There are some things you can't leave home without.

Like a Visa card.

Like Show Sheen.

Like, in the case of 5-year-old Spencer, cars and trucks to play with on the nearest mound of dirt.

Spencer has his very own suitcase to pack his cars and trucks, particularly when he's going to a horse show.

He just won't leave home without them.

Samantha is a second-generation cheerleader.

Her mom, Mary, was a Vikings cheerleader for nine seasons, and a member of the first group of NFL cheerleaders ever selected to cheer at the Pro Bowl.

Now Samantha is following in her mother's dance steps.

As a seventh grader, Samantha made the varsity cheerleading team at Orono High School.

(Samantha is pictured in her cheerleading uniform with her brothers, from left, Shane, Spencer and Sawer.)

Two, four, six, eight ... Samantha sure can cheer great!

Go Samantha!

Rah! Rah! Sis-boom-well, you know the rest.

Two heads are better than one, right?

Well ...

That must mean four heads are twice as good as two heads.

Right?

Well ...

Here are the four heads of the Sansevere children. They are, clockwise and starting at the top, Sawyer, Shane, Samantha and Spencer.

Rub-a-dub-dub ...

That's ...

Sawyer ...

And ...

Spencer ...

In the tub (back in 2005).

In the Orono school system, there is a contest held every spring. It is called the "Academy Awards of Literature." Kids choose a book or an author and tell why they like that particular book or author.

In 2005, Samantha chose author Marty Garrison, who writes about Miniature horses.
In 2007, Sawyer also chose Marty as his favorite author for the Academy Awards.

In competition against hundreds of other schoolchildren, Samantha and Sawyer each won Academy Awards for their presentations of Marty's books. (The photos show Samantha, left, and Sawyer, right, with their presentations and awards.)

Before Shane ...

Before Spencer ...

Before Sawyer ...

Before Samantha ...

Before any of the kids and any of the horses ...

There was just Mary and Bob.

They got married September 14, 1991. (Photo, left)

And nine months later ...

No, Samantha wasn't born.

Mary won Mrs. Minnesota-America. (Photo, right)

This is the cover from the book Bob wrote about Minnesota's best sports arguments.

It includes chapters about the Vikings and Twins.

And the Timberwolves and the Wild. And the Gophers, too.

The book went on sale in November 2007.

He's hoping it sells a million copies.

And makes the New York Times bestseller's list.

But he'd be happy just to hear that the people who buy it like it.
